Comments:
I found this place by accident while driving through Carteret, NJ with my son-in-law. We were both hungry, (I was hangry) when we stumbled onto the Burger Express. The burgers were very good, not great, but very good. The servers are all very nice, the place is clean and the atmosphere very inviting. The rendered fat and juices flowing out of this burger had an old-school aroma for me. It reminded me of a flat-grilled bar burger I used to eat about 38 some years ago. The burger was piping hot which is always awesome, but it was also over-cooked. Although over-cooked, much like 5-Guys burgers, it was not dry at all (it never dawned on me that I probably could've asked for a medium rare temperature). Overall, a cool place to hang, and BTW, Burger Express has a huge and diverse menu, offering items from shrimp, to chicken parm with just about anything you can think of in-between. There is also a bar upstairs that looks over the burger seating area. What a great place to watch a football game. Again, cool place, with a unique, train station feel and of all things, a drive-through window! You don't see that at many Mom & Pop restaurants.
My burger rating for the Burger Express is an 8.3/10.
