Where:
810 West Edgar Rd., Linden, NJ
What:Freddy's original double w/cheese.
(Two Steakburger patties, American cheese, mustard, onion & pickle on a toasted bun).
After waiting 4 full minutes, and being 1 second away from leaving, a pleasant voice came through the drive-through speaker apologizing for the delay and asking me what I'd like. I replied: "what are you famous for?" - "Frozen custard and our original burger". I opted for the burger only and was asked if I was okay with mustard and onion... I replied "yes" even though I'm from the northeast, which means I've been conditioned my whole life to believe that ketchup is the only suitable condiment for a burger.
I paid, collected my order, and pulled around the building to a parking spot to devour my purchase. The inside of my truck smelled of onion and beef by the time I could get the car in park. I unwrapped it to find an exquisitely built burger with a cotton-soft bun. Although the burger patties are the thinnest I've ever encountered, Freddy's did not disappoint. There was plenty of crisp, leathery beef to satisfy anyone who loves the taste of rendered beef fat.
I'll be back...
